Teesta River Protest: Citizens Rally for Equitable Water Distribution

Thousands of demonstrators continue their 48-hour sit-in along the Teesta River in northern Bangladesh, demanding a fair share of water from India. The protest, organized by the Teesta River Protection Movement, spans 11 locations across five districts. BNP leaders, including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, have joined the demonstrations, criticizing India's water management and calling for the implementation of the Teesta Water Sharing Treaty. The movement aims to pressure the interim government to address the long-standing water dispute with India and highlight the plight of communities affected by water scarcity. The protest is scheduled to conclude on February 19, 2025.
