The Comptroller and Auditor General of India inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for Financial Audit (CoEFA) in Hyderabad, aiming to transform financial audits of public sector units through AI, data analytics, and capacity-building initiatives for enhanced transparency and accountability.

The Centre of Excellence for Financial Audit (CoEFA) was officially launched at the Accountant General’s Office Complex in Hyderabad by the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) of India, K Sanjay Murthy. CoEFA represents a significant leap forward in strengthening India’s public audit ecosystem by integrating advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into audit processes.

CoEFA will serve as a hub for innovation, research, and professional development, focusing on financial audits of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), Autonomous Bodies, and Urban Local Bodies. It aims to combine digital innovations with institutional experience to enhance audit quality, promote transparency, and ensure accountability in public expenditure.

The facility, operating under the National Academy of Audit and Accounts (NAAA), Shimla, will support auditors nationwide through cutting-edge tools, research, and collaboration, highlighted by a recent Framework Agreement with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for joint training and publications.

The launch event also featured the unveiling of CoEFA’s logo and website, alongside a capacity-building workshop on the Companies Act, 2013, underscoring the commitment to continuous professional integrity and institutional capacity.
