Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has robustly defended the 'Make in India' initiative, asserting that it is delivering positive outcomes. Addressing the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Sitharaman highlighted the success of Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, which have attracted investments worth ₹1.5 trillion and created nearly 9.5 lakh jobs. She emphasized that 'Make in India' has strengthened the manufacturing sector, including defense production, and has helped India become a global manufacturing hub. Sitharaman also criticized the Opposition for questioning the initiative's effectiveness, pointing out that it has built upon previous national manufacturing policies. Her remarks underscore the government's commitment to boosting domestic manufacturing and economic growth.
