UP CM Defies Pollution Concerns: Sangam Water "Safe for Bathing and Drinking"

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has strongly refuted claims of contamination in the Sangam waters during the ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025. Despite a recent Central Pollution Control Board report highlighting high faecal coliform levels, Adityanath asserted in the UP Assembly that the water is "fit for both bathing and ritual drinking (aachman)." He cited recent data showing acceptable Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Dissolved Oxygen (DO) levels at the Sangam. The CM accused opposition parties of spreading "false narratives" and emphasized the government's efforts to maintain water quality, including the tapping of 81 drains and treatment of 261 MLD of sewage.
