Vodafone Idea Hit with ₹29.4 Million Penalty Under CGST Act

Vodafone Idea Ltd. has received a significant order under the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Act, 2017, confirming a penalty of ₹29.4 million. This decision stems from allegations of the company availing ineligible input tax credits during the fiscal years 2019-20 and 2020-21. The order, issued by the Joint Commissioner for CGST and Central Excise in Patna, mandates the telecom giant to address this financial liability. Vodafone Idea has expressed its disagreement with the ruling and plans to pursue appropriate legal actions to challenge the penalty.
