Voice of Doubt: Amazon's Alexa Raises Privacy Concerns

Amazon recently updated the privacy settings of Alexa in a major way, leaving users with the choice of either sacrificing their privacy or enjoying complete device functionality. From March 28 onwards, the "Do Not Send Voice Recordings" option was discontinued, so all voice commands were sent to Amazon's cloud for processing. People have the option of using the "Don't Save Recordings" feature, which erases recordings once they are processed, but this turns off capabilities such as Voice ID and personalized experiences. This move is part of Amazon's drive for its AI-based Alexa Plus, which promises to improve conversational abilities but also sparks worries over privacy and data protection.
