The shift signals Meta’s push to turn WhatsApp into a broader AI platform, even if that means hosting competitors’ chatbots alongside its own.

Under the reported plan, select AI companies will be able to plug their models into WhatsApp and interact with users in tightly defined ways, initially at no or low cost.
