Zero Emissions, Maximum Ambition: Delhi's Roadmap to EV Supremacy

In a first, the Delhi government has launched its visionary Delhi EV Policy 2.0 with the aim to see 95% of new electric vehicle registrations by 2027. The policy sees a comprehensive plan to change the capital's transport face, including an electric bus transition in public transport. Phasing out CNG-run auto-rickshaws, taxis, and light commercial vehicles in favor of electric vehicles is one of the major steps. To facilitate such a shift, the government intends to significantly increase charging facilities, providing incentives for purchase for electric vehicle segments. Skill creation and employment opportunities in the EV sector are the policy's focus areas, too. In this ambitious move, Delhi wants to rebrand itself as India's champion of sustainable urban transport, a model for other Indian cities.
