Only NMC-Approved Colleges Are Legitimate: The NMC stressed that only medical colleges listed on its official website are authorized to offer MBBS and other medical degrees in India. Any institution not on this list is operating illegally and in violation of NMC regulations.

Named and Shamed: Singhania University (Rajasthan) and Sanjiban Hospital and Medical College (Howrah, West Bengal) have been specifically flagged for offering MBBS courses without NMC approval. Legal action is underway against these institutions.

Risks for Students: Graduates from unauthorized or non-compliant colleges will be ineligible for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE)—a mandatory licensing exam to practice medicine in India. The responsibility for disqualification will rest solely on the student.

Guidelines for MBBS Abroad: Students planning to study medicine overseas must ensure their chosen program meets the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate (FMGL) Regulations, 2021. This includes a minimum of 54 months of education at a single institution, a 12-month internship at the same university, and instruction in English.

Always verify a college’s recognition status on the NMC website (www.nmc.org.in).
Do not trust college websites, advertisements, or unauthorized agents.
NEET is the only valid entry route for MBBS in India or abroad.
