Boost for Make in India: L&T to supply BvS10 Sindhu armoured vehicles to Indian Army

Defence contract marks strategic milestone  
The Indian Army has signed a contract with L&T for the licensed production of BvS10 Sindhu, an advanced all‑terrain armoured vehicle tailored for India’s diverse operational environments. The vehicles will be manufactured at L&T’s Armoured Systems Complex in Hazira, Gujarat, with design and technical support from BAE Systems, the original developer of the BvS10 platform.  

The BvS10 Sindhu is an upgraded variant designed for high‑altitude, desert, marshland, and amphibious terrains. The contract also includes a comprehensive logistics support package covering deployment, maintenance, and life‑cycle sustainment. Defence analysts view this as a significant boost to India’s indigenous defence ecosystem, enhancing operational capabilities while reducing reliance on imports.
