Climb the Ranks or Face the Planks: Promotion, Relegation Now in Play for Senior Women’s Nationals

Hockey India has introduced a promotion and relegation system for the Senior Women's National Championship, to be organized in Panchkula from March 1-12, 2025. The new system will boost competition by providing teams with a clear pathway to promote or be relegated based on their performance. The top 12 teams shall compete in Division A, but the bottom two shall be subject to relegation to Division B. Division B teams shall struggle for promotion and Division C teams shall struggle for promotion to Division B.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey is confident that this system will increase the standards of the sport in all of India by making each match decisive, either for the championship or to prevent relegation.
