Congress Guarantees Turn Gold: Rs 80,000 Crore Directly Empower Karnataka Citizens, Declares CM Siddaramaiah

Today's announcement from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah revealed that the Karnataka State Government paid roughly Rs 80,000 crore to its citizens through welfare guarantee programs. Speaking at an event in Devanahalli in the Bengaluru Rural district, Siddaramaiah said that the announcement comes at the nearing conclusion of the Congress government’s two-year term.

 

The Chief Minister stated that despite the pushback from both the opposition and some members of his own party, his government remained firm on the promises included in the Congress manifesto. In the most recent state budget, the government set aside Rs 51,000 crore in funding for the five flagship guarantee programs scheduled to be executed in 2025-26. Siddaramaiah also emphasized that welfare is not free money, but rather a necessary investment in the economy and social development of the citizens of Karnataka.

 

Responding to the opposition’s statement that the government has no funding left for development, Siddaramaiah challenged BJP leaders to recognize the developmental programs taking place, claiming that those proclamations made by opposition leaders were biased, asking that Opposition acknowledge ongoing developmental programs.

 

Siddaramaiah also repeated claims that the government is committed to inclusionary growth and stated the welfare programs from the government would continue to be prioritized, promising that the welfare program is a tenet of the Congress government for reasonable growth in Karnataka.
