Delhi's Glass Ceiling Cracks: Atishi Among 5 Women Victors in Assembly Polls

In a significant step for women's representation, five female candidates, including Chief Minister Atishi, emerged victorious in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. Despite a drop in overall women's participation, with only 96 out of 699 candidates being female, this outcome marks a slight improvement from the previous election. Atishi, the former Chief Minister, secured a win in the Kalkaji constituency with a margin of 3,580 votes against BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri. Anjana Parcha of AAP clinched the Trilokpuri (SC) seat, while Rekha Gupta from BJP won in Shalimar Bagh with a substantial lead of 29,352 votes. In Seemapuri (SC), AAP's Veer Singh Dhingan emerged victorious, and BJP's Rinku Kumari triumphed in the Rohtas Nagar constituency. These wins mark a step forward for gender diversity in Delhi's legislative assembly, despite the overall decrease in women candidates compared to previous elections.
