Elon Musk’s X Takes Legal Action Against California’s Anti-Disinformation Law

Elon Musk's social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), has filed a lawsuit against California's new anti-disinformation law, arguing it violates free speech rights under the First Amendment. The law, known as Assembly Bill 587, requires social media companies to disclose their content moderation policies regarding hate speech, disinformation, and extremism. X contends that the law imposes unconstitutional burdens and could lead to government overreach in regulating online speech. The lawsuit marks another clash between tech companies and regulators over the balance between free expression and combating misinformation.
