From Wasteland to Wonderland: DDA's Vision for Delhi's Largest Park Along Yamuna

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will be creating Delhi's biggest park along the Yamuna River, which is 370 hectares in size. The park will be called Mayur Nature Park and will be situated between Nizamuddin Bridge and the DND Flyway. The park is a part of the Yamuna Floodplain Restoration project, which seeks to restore the ecosystem of the river and offer recreational space. Amenities include greenway zones, floodplain forests, and solar-powered parking. The project cost is estimated to be Rs 136 crore with the aim to increase urban sustainability and environmental revitalization.

 

As part of the larger plan, the government wishes to develop a green belt covering the Yamuna floodplains, encouraging ecobalance as well as enhanced quality of living for the dwellers. It will provide a place for pedestrian walks, bicycles, and even yoga, in addition to its wetland environments to enhance the conservation of water.
