Massive Girder Mishap Halts Carnac Bridge Construction in Mumbai

In a major setback for Mumbai's infrastructure development, a 400-tonne girder for the Carnac Bridge was left dangling precariously from a 700-tonne crane during a crucial installation attempt. The incident, which occurred on January 25-26, 2025, led to extended train disruptions and emergency blocks, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) faced technical failures during the girder launch, including a broken jack and roller. This mishap has delayed the completion of the ₹55 crore project, originally slated to open before the monsoon season.
