In a milestone for green transport, Adani Group has unveiled India's first hydrogen fuel-powered truck for mining logistics, establishing a new benchmark in the adoption of clean energy in the industry. The trailblazing truck was flagged off from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and will revolutionize cargo transportation in mining activities.
Important Points:
First-of-its-Kind Innovation: Adani Enterprises, along with top Indian and global energy technology companies and a large automobile maker, has designed a hydrogen fuel cell truck specifically for mining transportation.
Impressive Capabilities: The truck features intelligent technology and three hydrogen tanks, allowing it to transport as much as 40 tonnes of freight over a 200-kilometre distance-equaling the capabilities of traditional diesel trucks.
Sustainability Milestone: The hydrogen-powered truck will initially transport coal from the Gare Pelma III Block to a state power plant, gradually replacing diesel vehicles in Adani’s logistics operations and significantly reducing carbon emissions.
Green Mission Leadership: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who flagged off the truck, highlighted the state’s commitment to sustainable practices and its role as a leader in India’s green transition.
Strategic Partnership: The project is a collaborative effort of Adani Natural Resources and Adani New Industries Limited, utilizing in-house knowledge in green hydrogen, renewable energy, and high-end manufacturing.
Wider Ripples: The project aligns with the vision of Adani Group to decarbonize mining, decrease India's crude oil imports, and catalyze similar hydrogen technology adoption at ports, airports, and industrial logistics.
This deployment is a major step towards cleaner industrial logistics and responsible mining, placing India at the vanguard of the hydrogen economy.
