Airtel Shoots for the Stars: Partners with SpaceX to Beam Starlink Across Africa

Airtel Africa has made a historic deal with SpaceX to roll out Starlink's satellite internet with fast speeds over its 14-country network, targeting businesses, small enterprises, schools, health centers, and most importantly rural and remote communities where traditional connectivity is limited. Airtel will supplement Starlink's low Earth orbit satellites with its ground infrastructure, improving digital inclusion and pushing reliable coverage to the most far-flung places. SpaceX has already secured licenses in nine countries, and applications are ongoing in another five. Both organizations claim this alliance is a game-changer for the digital economy in Africa with prospects for affordable next-generation connectivity for millions. The deal also opens up new opportunities for SpaceX to access Airtel's extensive local networks, accelerating universal access and allowing Africa's growing demand for digital services.
