Overview As part of a historic initiative to ensure holistic well-being and community engagement, the Delhi government will celebrate International Yoga Day events in 11 strategic venues on June 21. With a projected 20,000 participants, it is the city's largest Yoga Day celebration so far.

Event Blueprint

The celebrations will be held at 11 sports complexes and stadiums, including Chhatrasal Stadium, Thyagaraj Stadium, East Vinod Nagar Sports Complex, and Dwarka Sector-6 Cricket Ground.

Chhatrasal Stadium has been assigned the primary venue, with a capacity for about 10,000 yoga practitioners, aided by 5,000 volunteers from the Bharatiya Yog Sansthan.

The other 10 venues will accommodate about 1,000 fans.

Ministers and Members of Parliament will oversee activities at every location to provide efficient operation.

Salient Features

Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister, will address a session at Sonia Vihar on Yamuna Riverfront, and Ashish Sood, Home Minister, will address Chhatrasal Stadium.

There will be a specially designed Delhi Yoga Anthem by Amit Trivedi, which will reflect the cultural and spiritual diversity of the city.

The event is consistent with 2025's theme: Yoga for One Earth, One Health, in harmony with India's vision of inter-connected global well-being under G20.

Operational Readiness

The security and traffic will fall under Delhi Police, with CCTV surveillance, color-coded parking passes, and emergency response.

Participants will receive yoga mats, refreshments, and T-shirts.

Medical care, sanitation facilities, fire safety, and continuous utilities will be provided in all the grounds.

Community Involvement

The volunteers would consist of Delhi government school students and teachers, yoga trainers, NSS and NCC cadets, and civil defence volunteers. The project will also launch the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0" campaign under the national 10 crore sapling mission. Delhi plans to plant 3.7 lakh saplings during 2025–26.

Cultural Significance It is the 11th International Day of Yoga since its launch in 2015. Mass-level involvement on the part of the Delhi government is a reflection of a heightened dedication towards integrating yoga into daily life and public culture.
