Apple is making another bold stride in India’s booming tech retail landscape, confirming the opening of its third official store at Bengaluru’s upscale Phoenix Mall of Asia. This move comes hot on the heels of Apple’s retail triumphs in Mumbai and Delhi and signals the company’s deepening commitment to India as both a consumer and manufacturing powerhouse.
Prime Location, Premium Experience:
The new Apple Store will occupy an 8,000 square foot space on the first floor of Phoenix Mall of Asia in Hebbal, Bengaluru. While smaller than Mumbai’s flagship, it matches the scale of the Delhi outlet and promises Apple’s signature minimalist design and immersive customer experience.
Strategic Expansion:
Apple’s Bengaluru launch is part of a wider retail push, with plans for four new stores across India, including Pune and additional sites in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR. The company’s CEO, Tim Cook, recently highlighted India’s growing importance in Apple’s global strategy, both for sales and as a manufacturing hub.
Financials & Lease Details:
Apple has signed a 10-year lease, paying an annual rent of ₹2.09 crore (about ₹17.4 lakh per month) and a revenue share starting at 2% for the first three years, rising to 2.5% thereafter. The lease includes exclusivity clauses to keep competing tech brands at bay.
Market Momentum:
India is now Apple’s fourth-largest market globally, with iPhone shipments surging 35% year-on-year and the brand capturing a 10% market share in late 2024. The Bengaluru store is expected to open in the coming months, coinciding with the highly anticipated iPhone 17 launch.
Apple’s retail expansion underscores its confidence in India’s tech-savvy consumers and its vision to make the country a central node in its global supply chain.
