Books, Dignity & Safety: UP’s Triple Win for Its Youngest Citizens

In a first of its kind stride towards inclusive growth, the government of Uttar Pradesh has been lauded for its comprehensive approach to child welfare. A new report chronicles the state's achievement in extending protection, education, and dignity to children—especially from marginalized and differently-abled segments. With the integration of policy innovation, implementation at the ground level, and institutional change, UP is setting a new standard in child-centered governance.
 
Protection and Safety of Children
  • Audit of Divyang Institutions: CM Yogi Adityanath ordered a thorough audit of differently-abled children care and education institutions to ensure safety and transparency. 
  • Health Monitoring: Regular health monitoring is being conducted for 214 children under the Cochlear Implant Scheme.
  • Third-Party Screening: Stringent screening of third-party agencies who are working with child care institutions to prevent exploitation.
Education for All
  • ALfA Scheme Success: The Accelerating Learning for All (ALfA) program has improved basic literacy and numeracy in state schools.
  • Paired Learning & Teacher Training: Emphasis on engaging teaching and measurable results has brought about significant progress in the fluency of reading.
  • Vacancy Fill-Ups: Vacant posts are being filled by the government as well as qualified young individuals who are being inducted as temporary teachers.
Dignity and Inclusion
  • Skill-Based Education: New vocational courses introduced at Shakuntala Mishra and Rambhadracharya universities for Divyang students.
  • Mobility and Access: Free travel by bus facility in use by more than 31 lakh Divyang passengers; 270 received motorized tricycles.
  • Digital Inclusion: More than 15 lakh Divyangs got registered on the UDID portal, simplifying accessibility for them to schemes of welfare.
