CESC Limited recently reported that it has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with its subsidiary, Bhojraj Renewables Energy Private Limited, for a 300 MW wind-solar hybrid power project. The PPA will be signed at a tariff of ₹3.81 per kWh for 25 years, representing a key milestone in CESC’s ongoing journey to expand the renewable energy space while also sustainably meeting future energy needs.
The agreement will require the approval of the West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission (WBERC) before the PPA becomes effective. As a renewable energy developer, CESC emphasized to the market that this PPA fits with its ambitions and strategy to increase clean energy, looking to exponentially increase its renewable capacity by 3 GW over the next three years.
CESC stated this transaction in accordance with the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s (SEBI) listing obligations, and was subsequently able to explain the wider context of this important development to the market. Today, both the NSE and BSE stock exchanges are actively trading CESC as investors grappled with the announcement.
