Chhattisgarh is on the threshold of a textile revolution, making Raipur and the state India's next big destination for apparel and fabric production. In a historic step, the state government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), paving the way for a world-class Textile and Apparel Facilitation Centre in Raipur. This project, unveiled at CMAI FAB Show 2025 held in Mumbai, is set to turbocharge economic growth and produce thousands of additional jobs.

Principal Highlights:
  • CMAU Signing with CMAI is an industry "milestone" of Chhattisgarh targeting big-ticket investment and the complete textile ecosystem that ranges from historic handlooms to high-technology manufacturing.
  • A new campus of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), sanctioned at a cost of ₹271 crore for Nava Raipur, will be the hub for skill development and design innovation that will provide a continuous supply of industry-tuned talent.
  • The new industrial policy of the state provides unprecedented pushbacks, such as capital refund of up to 252% on investments of over ₹100 crore that create large-scale local employment opportunities, and special packages for companies establishing base in tribal regions such as Bastar and Surguja.
Infrastructure improvements-including:
- The ₹48,000 crore rail modernization,
- The Raipur-Visakhapatnam Expressway,
- And improved cargo facilities at Raipur Airport-provide unsurpassed logistics benefits to textile enterprises.

Chhattisgarh's rich textile culture, particularly kosa silk from Bastar and Surguja, will receive a branding and market boost, combining tradition with technology for global markets.
More than 350 reforms have simplified the investment process, with the government focusing not only on ease, but "speed of doing business".
