In a scene that tugged at the heartstrings of Bollywood fans, Darsheel Safary—most fondly remembered in memory as Ishaan Awasthi of Taare Zameen Par—created a dramatic presence at the premiere of Aamir Khan's latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par. The event, held in Mumbai, was celebrity-attended but it was not Darsheel's grown-up radiance and retrograde presence that caught the imagination.

A Full-Circle Moment
  • Darsheel Safary, now 28, arrived for the screening in a crisp off-white T-shirt and black trousers, sporting a sculpted moustache and confident smile.
  • His appearance evoked strong nostalgia among fans who remember his iconic turn as the dyslexic boy in Aamir Khan's 2007 directorial venture.
  • The screening was a symbolic reunion of sorts, since Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par.
Starry Night, Stellar Guests
  • Presented by Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt, the gala was attended by Bollywood royalty: Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Rekha, Vicky Kaushal, among others.
  • The red carpet was on fire with bonhomie and nostalgia, with Salman playfully commenting about nearly acting in the movie himself.
The Film and Its Message
  • Directed by R.S. Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is a film about a basketball coach mentoring neurodivergent children, evoking the spirit of empathy and inclusivity.
  • The film features ten debutant actors and has been praised for its emotional depth and refusal to release on OTT platforms.
Darsheel’s Heartfelt Review
After the screening, Darsheel shared on social media:  “The film holds up a mirror with humour, grace, and heart. No pity, no preaching. Just presence, joy, and strength… You’ll walk in curious and walk out a little more human.”

What’s Next for Darsheel?
  • He will debut in OTT with the new show Gamerlog, a coming-of-age at an e-sports bootcamp.
  • Abhinay Deo directs the show, which features a cast of youngsters attempting to navigate life, gaming, and self.
