India: Bollywood's genre-hopper of choice Ayushmann Khurrana will be part of a comedy family entertainer being produced by Bhushan Kumar and Juno Chopra, a new addition to his already diverse filmography.

Ayushmann's yet-to-be-titled movie, which has been described as an out-and-out comedy, will go on the floor in September 2025 with a start-to-finish shoot. Ayushmann, who has taken accolades for his perfect comic timing in hits such as Dream Girl and Bala, is apparently interested in going back to a genre he had always wished to return to.

The film, according to insiders, will provide a combination of slapstick and situational comedy, and the work of casting for an all-star ensemble has already commenced. While the director is yet to be named, sources reveal that a director with a rich CV for commercial comedies is likely to work on the film.

This caper comedy will replace his upcoming Diwali release "Thama" and his 2026 spy-comedy with Dharma Productions, featuring Sara Ali Khan. After wrapping up with this movie, he's also going to begin work on a family dramedy with Sooraj Barjatya, in which he'll reportedly be playing a "Prem-like" role.

With this news, Ayushmann is yet again establishing himself as one of Bollywood's most bankable and versatile actors—able to make the audience laugh, cry, and everything in between.
