At the valedictory session of the Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Exhibition 2025 in Gurugram, Union Minister Manohar Lal called for immediate action in urban mobility planning for tier 2 and 3 cities. He stressed that early planning is essential to make these cities future-ready as they transition into tier 1 urban centers.
The minister also highlighted the importance of expanding the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) beyond Delhi–NCR to major metros like Chennai, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, aiming to reduce travel time and enhance regional connectivity.
