Game-Changer for Mohali! GMADA’s Growth Drive Unlocks Commercial & Residential Zones

The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has announced plans to acquire 2,600 acres of land across multiple sectors to accelerate urban expansion, infrastructure development, and housing projects in Mohali. The decision was finalized during a high-level executive committee meeting, chaired by Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha.
 
1. Key Land Acquisition Details
  • 236 acres in Sector 87 will be designated for commercial development.
  • 313 acres in Sector 84 will be allocated for institutional projects.
  • 321 acres across Sectors 101 and 103 will be used for industrial expansion.
  • 1,800 acres along the PR-7 road (Sectors 120-125) will be developed for residential housing, addressing the growing demand for planned urban settlements.
2. No More CLU Permissions for Private Builders
  • GMADA has decided that no Change of Land Use (CLU) permissions will be granted to private developers in these areas.
  • The move aims to curb unauthorized colonies, ensuring regulated urban growth.
3. Land Pooling & Compensation Plan
  • Landowners will be offered residential or commercial plots under Punjab’s land pooling policy.
  • Portions of the acquired land will be auctioned publicly, ensuring transparent allocation.
4. Aerotropolis Project Gains Momentum
  • GMADA’s Aerotropolis township, spanning 5,500 acres near Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, has received environmental clearance.
  • The ₹1,000 crore investment will support commercial and residential development, reinforcing Mohali’s status as a modern urban hub.
