Reliance Jio recently declared that from now on it would not stream Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket games for free within India. Two years of a free IPL offer on JioCinema had come to a close. Since this year onwards, users are required to be subscribers to see IPL matches being played on JioHotstar's newly acquired platform. The subscription plan starts at ₹299 for mobile subscribers, with IPL content among its inclusions. Reliance Jio has also rolled out a 50-day preview of its broadband services with these plans to boost its home internet focus.
The season for the IPL 2025 will start on March 22 and end on May 25. This shift comes after the Reliance-Disney joint venture made large investments in media rights of cricketing events.
