Google is rolling out a longawaited feature for Android users—Song Search History—within its Circle to Search tool, allowing music lovers to revisit previously identified tracks with ease.

Key highlights:
  • Available in version 16.27 of the Google app, the feature displays up to 10 recently searched songs grouped by month.
  • Users can access the history via a new icon in the topright corner of the Song Search interface or through a home screen shortcut.
  • Each entry includes album art, track title, artist name, and the exact time of search.
Feature breakdown:
  • The Song Search function lets users identify music by playing, humming, or singing.
  • A “Show full history” option redirects to Google’s My Activity page, offering a complete log of past searches (minus album art).
  • The feature was first spotted in February during an APK teardown and began beta rollout in April.
User experience:
  • This update bridges a gap in Android’s music discovery tools, previously available only on iOS.
  • It enhances the Circle to Search’s utility, making it a more holistic tool for realtime content lookup and media interaction.
Outlook:
  • As AIdriven features become central to mobile experiences, Google’s move reflects its push toward seamless, crossplatform personalization.
  • Music enthusiasts now have a reliable way to track their sonic curiosities without losing the moment.
