HBL Engineering Ltd has reached a milestone with the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) giving its approval for its Kavach System Version 4.0-a cutting-edge, indigenous automatic train protection solution. This achievement places HBL Engineering at the leading edge of India's ambitious drive to modernize its railways, making train travel safer and smarter across the country.
Key Highlights:
HBL Engineering obtained RDSO certification for Kavach 4.0, which allowed the company to implement several high-value orders for Indian Railways. The system is capable of avoiding train collisions, taking automatic action in case of signal passes or overspeeding by imposing braking, and improving operational security through elevated real-time monitoring and RFID technology.
The firm has just secured a ₹145.83 crore order from Western Railway to roll out Kavach 4.0 at 48 stations and 428 km in the Ahmedabad Division, with the deadline for completion set within two years. This is in addition to a strong order book, including ₹500 crore contract each for the Viramgam-Rajkot-Okha and Dholpur-Bina sections, and a number of others aggregating over ₹3,700 crore for FY25.
Kavach 4.0's clearance and introduction are a part of Indian Railways' strategy to introduce coverage on all key routes and new-generation locomotives, with over ₹1 lakh crore of government funds being designated for speedy deployment in 2024-25.
The leadership in HBL Engineering within Kavach segment, together with industry counterparts such as KEC International, Kernex Microsystems, RailTel, and Siemens, testifies to its vital contribution in India's rail safety revolution and its harmony with national vision for zero-collision railways.
