Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has announced that Hyderabad is soon to boast three new national institutions, further solidifying the city's place as a research hub, innovation center, and educational hub. Among these, the Kavach Centre of Excellence for Railway Safety and the Global Centre of Excellence on Millets have been greenlit, with the latter being allocated a significant ₹250 crore by the Centre to promote millet research and innovation. The third institution shall be focused on frontier technology or life sciences, keeping pace with Hyderabad's leadership status as a pioneer center in these fields.

Hyderabad already has more than 50 national research centers and has become a hotbed for life sciences, IT, and pharma businesses, making huge contributions to India's goal of a $500 billion life sciences economy. These new institutes will further fuel growth, bring the best talent, and support world-class research in the area.

Kishan Reddy emphasized that the initiatives reflect the Centre's commitment to Telangana growth, with a penchant for scientific advancement and economic growth. The move will create new opportunities for students, researchers, and entrepreneurs, boosting Hyderabad's position as a national education and innovation hub.
