India is to make a significant policy shift by prioritizing railway infrastructure over road transport. According to sources, the Railways Ministry expects an increase of more than 15% in its budget for FY26, while the Road Transport Ministry is expecting only a 3-4% increase. This strategic move is going to enhance connectivity and promote sustainable transport solutions that align with India's long-term economic goals. The government is going to present its budget proposals on February 1, 2025, with the expectation of making heavy investments in modernizing the railway network.
