Uttar Pradesh has made history by launching India’s first Vistadome jungle safari train, a unique initiative connecting Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary with Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. This pioneering move aims to redefine wildlife tourism in India, offering travelers an immersive jungle experience from the comfort of panoramic glass coaches.

Key Highlights

The Vistadome jungle safari train features specially designed coaches with large glass windows and transparent roofs, giving passengers sweeping, uninterrupted views of the lush forests, wetlands, grasslands, and diverse wildlife along the route.

The train covers a scenic 107-kilometre stretch between Bichia station in Bahraich and Mailani station in Lakhimpur Kheri, with the journey lasting about 4 hours and 25 minutes. The route includes nine stations, allowing tourists to witness the rich biodiversity of the region up close.

Tickets are affordably priced at Rs 275 per person, making the experience accessible to a wide range of travelers.

Currently, the service operates on weekends, but there are plans to expand it to daily operations soon, ensuring more visitors can enjoy this unique safari throughout the year.

The project is part of the state’s broader “One Destination, Three Forests” initiative, integrating Dudhwa National Park, Katarniaghat, and Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary to create a comprehensive and connected wildlife tourism circuit.

The Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board is also preparing subsidized travel packages from Lucknow to Katarniaghat, further easing access for tourists.

To promote awareness and digital outreach, the government is organizing special tours for school children, travel bloggers, and influencers, including curated “fame tours” during the monsoon, when the forests are at their most vibrant.

Beyond tourism, the Vistadome jungle safari train is expected to boost the local economy by generating employment and supporting community livelihoods.

This innovative train service is set to become a major draw for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and photographers, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leader in sustainable and experiential tourism.
