India’s reputation as a leader in science and technology just got a big nod from the UK. Speaking at the India Global Forum’s Future Frontiers event in London, UK Science Minister Lord Patrick Vallance called India an “increasingly powerful player” in the global science and tech scene. He said it’s time for the UK and India to work together more closely, not just through official channels, but by connecting researchers, students, and entrepreneurs directly.

Vallance pointed out that both countries have a lot to gain from making it easier for skilled people to move and collaborate. He mentioned the UK’s Global Talent Visa as one way to help experts from India and the UK work on new ideas together. Vallance also shared that the UK’s upcoming Industrial Strategy will highlight eight sectors where the two countries can team up, including artificial intelligence, clean energy, and health technology.

The event also highlighted the impact of Indian startups. Zypp Electric, for example, won the Clean Tech Award, showing that Indian companies are making a mark well beyond their home turf. India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal echoed Vallance’s comments, adding that the new India-UK Free Trade Agreement should make it even easier for professionals and businesses to collaborate.

In short, both sides see a future where they’re not just trading goods, but sharing ideas and building new technology together. It’s a partnership that could shape the next generation of innovation.
