If you’ve noticed more talk about private clubs in India lately, you’re not imagining things. There’s a real shift happening. The country’s old-school clubs, with their colonial roots and rigid rules, are making way for a new generation of luxury spaces that feel a lot more relevant to how people live and work today.

What’s Changing?
  • The new clubs—like Quorum, Soho House, and The Luxe League—are designed for entrepreneurs, professionals, and creatives who want more than just a place to play golf or have tea. These spots offer everything from coworking spaces and wellness centers to fine dining and art events.
  • Big hotel brands such as Four Seasons and Taj are getting in on the action, creating clubs that focus on privacy, exclusivity, and a sense of community.
  • Membership isn’t just about money anymore. Many clubs are invite-only or require referrals, and they’re looking for people who are accomplished and forward-thinking.
  • The numbers back up the trend. India now has more than 25 modern private clubs, and membership is growing fast—about 8% a year. The market could reach nearly Rs 1,000 crore by 2027.
These clubs aren’t just for socializing. They host business meetings, art shows, and private parties, and offer amenities like spas, cigar lounges, and international restaurants.

This new wave of clubs reflects how India’s elite want to connect: in places that are private, stylish, and full of opportunities to meet interesting people.
