Sunny Deol's action thriller Jaat has made a whopping ₹20.1 crore gross at the domestic box office in its initial two days of release. Gopichand Malineni's directorial venture made a debut on April 10 with high hopes, being Malineni's Hindi film debut. With somewhat mixed reviews, Jaat brought in ₹11.6 crore on its first day, and ₹7 crore on Day 2, according to trade reports.
Directed by Arjun Sarja, Jaat is a mass entertainer starring Sunny Deol with Randeep Hooda, Saiyami Kher, and Regina Cassandra. The story of the film is about Balbir Singh, a person who fights corruption and tyranny in a coastal village haunted by goons.
Though the film has picked up good momentum in mass pockets such as Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, its performance was subdued on Friday. The trade expects this weekend to give the much-needed impetus to its box office collection. Priced at a production cost of ₹100 crore, Jaat will require consistent momentum to become a blockbuster.
