Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Pro is making waves ahead of the September launch, courtesy of a leaked image that showcases a fresh MagSafe magnet design and a relocated Apple logo. The leak, shared by tipster Majin Bu, shows a fresh MagSafe ring with an open gap, breaking away from the traditional full-circle approach of previous generations.
The redesign is reportedly driven by a more chiseled camera hump, which has moved the Apple logo lower on the back panel. The relocation preserves the logo through MagSafe-compatible cases, most of which have cutouts whose placement happens to coincide with the location of the logo. Case makers are already optimizing their covers for the new layout.
Major Design Changes
-
MagSafe Magnet Pattern: Now features an open ring instead of a full circle.
-
Apple Logo Placement: Angled down to avoid interference from the expanded camera module.
-
Accessory Compatibility: Existing MagSafe accessories will remain compatible just as before.
-
Charging Speed: Speculation indicates that maybe marginally quicker MagSafe charging is being supported.
What It Means
While the redesign appears mostly superficial, it shows Apple's ongoing focus on stylish visual identity and pragmatically minimal design. The moved logo and updated MagSafe design may also foreshadow more significant alterations to the iPhone 17 Pro's back shell, like a horizontal camera bar.
