The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has officially declared the results of the Chartered Accountant Foundation Exam for May 2025, marking a significant step forward for thousands of aspiring finance professionals. With 12,747 candidates qualifying nationwide, the results reflect both the rigor of the examination and the determination of students across the country.
Key Highlights from the May 2025 Foundation Exam
- A total of 82,662 candidates appeared for the exam, conducted across 551 centres in India
- Of these, 12,747 candidates successfully cleared the exam, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 15.09 percent
- Among male candidates, 43,389 appeared and 7,056 passed, yielding a pass rate of 16.26 percent
- Among female candidates, 39,273 appeared and 5,418 passed, with a pass percentage of 13.80 percent
Exam Structure and Evaluation Criteria
- The Foundation exam was held on May 15, 17, 19, and 21, covering four papers:
- Paper 1: Accounting
- Paper 2: Business Laws
- Paper 3: Quantitative Aptitude (Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Statistics)
- Paper 4: Business Economics
- To qualify, candidates needed to score at least 40 marks in each paper and a minimum aggregate of 50 percent in a single sitting
- Papers 3 and 4 featured objective-type questions with a negative marking of 0.25 for each incorrect answer
- Candidates scoring 70 percent or more were awarded a distinction, which will be noted on their result cards
Post-Result Services and Next Steps
- Candidates dissatisfied with their results can apply for verification at Rs 100 per paper
- Certified copies of answer sheets are available for Rs 500 per paper via the ICAI’s e-services portal
- Certified copies of Papers 1 and 2, and OMR sheets of Papers 3 and 4, will be emailed to the registered address
- ICAI will also dispatch hard copies of mark statements by post; candidates not receiving them within 4–5 weeks may contact the exam helpline
A Gateway to the CA Journey
- The Foundation exam is the first of three levels in the Chartered Accountancy program, followed by Intermediate and Final exams
- Successful candidates will now proceed to the Intermediate level, marking a crucial transition in their professional journey
- ICAI has also released results for Intermediate and Final exams, with top rankers announced across all levels
