Karnataka Bank Ltd has issued a formal notice before a one-day general nation-wide strike on July 9, 2025. The bank has cautioned that normal business at its counters could be impacted as All India Karnataka Bank Employees' Association (AIKBEA) employees join the strike.

Key Points:

Karnataka Bank told stock exchanges that the strike would impact day-to-day banking services like cash transactions, cheque clearing, and customer care.

The strike is also a part of a national Bharat Bandh organized by a group of 10 central trade unions against the economic and labor policies of the central government.

While online banking infrastructure needs to remain operational, customers can experience a lag in branch-level services.

Wider Context:

Over 25 crore industrial workers from sectors such as banking, insurance, coal, postal, and transport will participate in the strike.

The protests are driven by demands to roll back the four new labor codes, halt privatization of the public sector banks, restore the old pension scheme, and put an end to mounting unemployment.

Bengaluru, the state capital of Karnataka Bank, can anticipate massive disruptions in public transport, postal services, and power supply due to extensive participation.

Customer Alert:

Karnataka Bank has requested customers to pre-book transactions and avail of mobile or internet banking in a bid to prevent inconvenience.

There has not been an officially declared holiday, although staffing issues can affect turnaround times.
