PM Modi Confirms G7 Summit Attendance After Invitation from Canada’s PM Carney

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially confirmed his participation in the upcoming G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Canada, following an invitation from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. In a post on X, Modi expressed enthusiasm for the meeting, stating, “Look forward to our meeting at the Summit.” The invitation marks a significant diplomatic engagement between India and Canada, signaling a potential thaw in relations after past tensions.

 

Modi also congratulated Carney on his recent election victory, emphasizing that India and Canada, as vibrant democracies, will work together with renewed vigor, guided by mutual respect and shared interests. The summit, scheduled for June 15-17, will bring together leaders from the world’s most industrialized nations to discuss global economic challenges, climate policies, and geopolitical stability.

 

This will be Modi’s first official interaction with Carney since he assumed office, and analysts believe the meeting could pave the way for strengthened bilateral cooperation.
