Priya Nair Takes the Helm—HUL Gets Its First Woman CEO, After Rohit Jawa’s Strategic Exit

In a landmark leadership transition, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) has announced the appointment of Priya Nair as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2025. She will succeed Rohit Jawa, who will step down on July 31, 2025, after a successful two-year tenure.

Leadership Shift at India’s FMCG Giant

Priya Nair, currently President of Beauty & Wellbeing at Unilever, returns to India to take the helm at HUL.
She will also join the HUL Board, subject to approvals, and continue as a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE).
Nair becomes the first woman CEO of HUL, marking a historic milestone for the company.

Priya Nair’s Journey

Joined HUL in 1995, rising through roles in sales, marketing, and brand leadership across Dove, Rin, and Comfort.
Served as Executive Director of Home Care (2014–2020) and Beauty & Personal Care (2020–2022).
Most recently led Unilever’s €13 billion Beauty & Wellbeing portfolio globally.
Recognized among India’s most influential women in business and marketing.

Rohit Jawa’s Legacy

Took charge as MD & CEO in June 2023, steering HUL through challenging market conditions.
Introduced the ‘ASPIRE’ strategy, focusing on portfolio transformation and channel innovation.
Previously held key roles in Unilever China, North Asia, and the Philippines, with a 37-year career at Unilever.
