Sunrisers Hyderabad ended their IPL 2025 campaign in spectacular fashion, thrashing defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders by 110 runs at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Orange Army scored a record 278/3, the third-highest IPL total, thanks to Heinrich Klaasen's unbeaten 105 from just 39 balls—scoring his hundred off 37 balls, the joint third-fastest in league history. Abhishek Sharma (32 off 16) and Travis Head (76 off 40) laid the platform, and Ishan Kishan's cameo (29 off 20) maintained the momentum.
KKR bowling had none to offer, with the only one doing some damage being Sunil Narine (2/42). While chasing a formidable total, Kolkata's batting fold under pressure. 37 from Manish Pandey was the highlight of the innings, but regular wickets by Jaydev Unadkat, Eshan Malinga, and Harsh Dubey (three wickets apiece) sent KKR packing for 168 in 18.4 overs.
This strong win propelled SRH to six from eight on the points table, finishing their season at 13 points and a net run rate of -0.241. KKR, on the other hand, dropped to eighth, finishing a woeful title defence with just 12 points.
The Orange Cap competition remains unchanged at the top with Gujarat Titans' Sai Sudharsan (679 runs) and Shubman Gill (649) behind Suryakumar Yadav (583), Mitchell Marsh (560), and Yashasvi Jaiswal (559). In the bowling, CSK's Noor Ahmad skyrocketed to the Purple Cap with 24 wickets followed by Prasidh Krishna (23), Trent Boult, Josh Hazlewood, and Varun Chakravarthy completing the top five.
With league stage done and dusted, playoff situation is also set for a climactic finish, but SRH's record-breaking send-off will be left as one of the memories of IPL 2025.
