In a move that exquisitely combined religious respect and global friendship, Japanese Ambassador to India Ono Keiichi paid a visit to Ayodhya on July 5 and offered prayers at the revered Ram Janmabhoomi and Hanumangarhi temples. Symbolically significant, the visit followed closely on the heels of his meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow, where the two leaders had spoken of enhancing Indo-Japanese relations.

Keiichi also explored the history of Lucknow, halting at the Bara Imambara and savoring Hyderabadi mutton biryani and Awadhi food.
