Time-Out for Iyer: Skipper Sheds Light on IPL 2025 Sit-Out vs RR

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer revealed that he sat out the second innings of their IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals because of an injured finger on his hand, which he had sustained during practice a day before. Iyer, whose 30 off 25 balls was a fine effort, pointed to his right forefinger and said, "I got hit while practising, and I don't know exactly what has happened. I will have to get it checked by the physios."

 

Although he did not bat in the second innings, Iyer was heavily involved, making tactical recommendations and motivating teammates from the boundary rope. His leadership off the field helped Punjab Kings defend a challenging total of 219, with Harpreet Brar's attacking bowling sealing a 10-run victory. The win moves PBKS closer to the IPL playoffs, with Iyer's determination and leadership inspiring even when injured.
