The Incident

During the third over of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s chase, Sooryavanshi sprinted to stop a lofted shot from Ishan Kishan. Midway, he pulled up sharply, clutching his hamstring, and was visibly in pain. The physio rushed in, and after brief treatment, the youngster was escorted off the field, sparking speculation of a serious injury. 

Injury Update

Rajasthan Royals batting coach Vikram Rathour clarified after the match that Sooryavanshi’s injury was more likely hamstring cramps rather than a major strain. He said, “He was feeling something in his hamstring, but now he’s looking okay. They’ve treated him, so he’s fine. We’ll know in a day or two, but it doesn’t look serious.” 

Record-Breaking Performance

The injury scare came right after Sooryavanshi’s breathtaking knock of 103 runs off 37 balls, including 12 sixes and five boundaries. He reached his century in just 36 balls, becoming the youngest player to cross 1,000 T20 runs and the fastest to the milestone in terms of balls faced. His strike rate of 278.38 has placed him second in the Orange Cap race this season.

While the Royals lost the match to Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sooryavanshi’s form remains a huge positive.
