Unity Triumphs in Kashmir: Amit Shah Hails End of Separatism

Union Home Minister Amit Shah revealed that two additional Hurriyat-linked factions, J&K Tahreeqi Isteqlal and J&K Tahreek-I-Istiqamat, have discarded separatism and have committed themselves to India. This comes on the heels of two other groups doing so earlier this week. Shah stated that in the Modi government, "separatism is breathing its last" in Kashmir. Gulam Nabi Sofi and Ghulam Nabi War, leaders of the groups, gave as reasons for switching sides the Hurriyat's inability to fulfill people's aspirations. They reaffirmed their commitment to the Indian Constitution and broke away from any anti-India actions. This new turn of events is an important change in Kashmir politics, indicating increasing support for integration with India.
