Although the 2027 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections are over two years from now, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has kick-started a scorching campaign, dubbed "Mission MCD," with a guarantee of a landslide return and a thumping majority.
Key Points from AAP's Statement:
Senior leadership of AAP, including former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Delhi state president Saurabh Bharadwaj, and MCD Leader of Opposition Ankush Narang, had a crucial strategy meet with all party councillors to initiate preparations.
Sisodia went through ward-level matters in detail, instructing councillors to become very active at the ward level, stay connected with people, and ensure quick redressal of local issues.
The party is committed to taking Arvind Kejriwal's "politics of work"—orientation towards public welfare, not communal politics—to each doorstep. Free education, quality healthcare, free electric bills, clean water, and women's free bus rides are some of the key policies that shall be the nucleus of their campaign.
Sisodia urged councillors to highlight the shortcomings of the current BJP government of MCD, citing even enduring issues like power outages, water contamination, and education "mafias," in spite of BJP's promises.
Saurabh Bharadwaj emphasized in his appeal for genuine public service, urging councillors to win the trust of people by doing visible, effective work and filling in service gaps created by the BJP.
Ankush Narang reminded the team of AAP's track record in the MCD, including efforts to regularise hundreds of contract staff members and introduce property tax rebates—efforts which remain in abeyance under BJP rule.
The session comes amidst internal strife, including the recent switching of allegiance of 16 councillors who formed a new political front, but AAP leadership is determined to stay firm on unity and resolute return.
AAP's message is crystal clear: it will go the extra mile to secure a clear mandate and restore its governance model to the MCD in 2027.
