MG Motor India has introduced the Windsor Pro at an opening price of ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom), directly targeting the heart of India's rapidly expanding electric SUV market. Equipped with a bigger battery, top-of-the-line tech, and a loaded cabin, the Windsor Pro is positioned to take on the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Curvv EV, and other prominent competitors.
Key Highlights:
Larger Battery, Increased Range: The Windsor Pro features a 52.9 kWh battery (an increase from 38 kWh), with a claimed range of 449 km - much higher than the regular Windsor, but still behind the Nexon EV's 489 km and Curvv EV's 502 km in top trims.
Premium Features: Additions are Level 2 ADAS with 12 safety features, ventilated front seats, powered tailgate, new alloy wheels, and V2L/V2V charging technology. The interior receives an ivory-black color scheme and faux wood trim for a more premium look.
Performance: The Windsor Pro comes with 134 bhp and 200 Nm torque, which is decent but lower than the Nexon EV (150 PS/215 Nm) and Curvv EV (up to 165 bhp/215 Nm).
Value Proposition: MG's Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model enables customers to pay less upfront (₹12.49 lakh + ₹4.5/km), undercutting competition for those with regular usage.
Space and Comfort: The Windsor Pro is differentiated by its roomy interior, glass roof, 15.6-inch infotainment, and 135-degree reclining rear seats-making it a formidable family EV player.
Rival Comparison: Although the Nexon EV and Curvv EV provide greater power and range, the Windsor Pro excels on features, practicality, and innovative pricing. Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Creta Electric provide even greater performance but at higher prices.
MG Windsor Pro's combination of range, tech, and flexible pricing makes it a strong new player in India's EV race.
