The Kansas City Royals maintained their string of dominance with a 4-0 shutout over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday evening, their fourth shutout in eight games. Kris Bubic spearheaded the pitching team, throwing five shutout innings after an early rain delay, and was supported by Daniel Lynch IV, Lucas Erceg, and John Schreiber, who collectively completed the six-hit shutout.
The Royals' offense was ignited by solo home runs by Kyle Isbel, Vinnie Pasquantino, and Cavan Biggio. Maikel Garcia also performed well, with 3-for-3 and a walk, and an RBI. Jonathan India added a double and the first run in the fourth inning on Garcia's single.
Orioles starter Tomoyuki Sugano was credited with the loss, giving up two runs in six innings. Baltimore's offense was restricted to singles, and Gunnar Henderson contributed half of their six hits. The Orioles created only one runner in scoring position and stranded seven men on base.
The victory provides Kansas City with its 10th in the past 12 and sends Baltimore home to 8-8. The series finishes with a rubber game on Sunday afternoon.
