PM Modi Congratulates Lawrence Wong on Landslide Win, Stresses Strong India-Singapore Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Singapore's Lawrence Wong on his landslide election victory, highlighting the tested strength and strategic depth in India-Singapore relations. Wong's People's Action Party won by a thumping margin, securing 87 seats out of 97 in parliament and taking its popular vote share to 65.57%-a unique feat for the first-time prime ministerial candidate.

 

Modi’s message underscored the robust economic, technological, and cultural ties between the two nations, reaffirming India’s commitment to deepening cooperation in trade, digital innovation, and regional security. This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, with both countries recently elevating their partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, reflecting shared values and mutual aspirations.
